Between Weathers launches the F Factor!

Official Between Weathers – The Movie Press Release for immediate release

“F” factor offers Shetland musicians a shot at fame.

Movie Director Jim Brown of B4 Films has announced a unique opportunity for Shetland singers and musicians to feature on the soundtrack of his latest movie project Between Weathers, which is due to start filming next spring.

The “F” Factor is a one off audition to be held in Lerwick on the 23rd November and is open to all singers and musicians from Shetland who think they have something to add to the movie soundtrack.

Jim Brown; “The “F” factor was a phrase coined by Chris Evans when our recent visit to Fetlar was featured on the BBC One Show. What I’m looking for is the very best musical talent Shetland has to offer to join Beth Nielsen Chapman and Phil Cunningham, Fiddlers Bid, Bongshang, Billy The Mountain, Lisa Sinclair and the incredible Aly Bain who are all being lined up to be part of the Between Weathers soundtrack”.

The movie soundtrack and album will be recorded at the Mareel, Shetland’s new multi-million pound music, cinema and recording venue.

Between Weathers Executive Producer and Director of Shetland Arts, Gwilym Gibbons said “Shetland has an international reputation for quality when it comes to music. Many a Shetland musician has performed on the world’s most prestigious stages, but one of Shetland’s best-kept secrets is the wealth of talent that is yet to walk on to stage. From singer songwriter to thrash metal artist, traditional fiddle to jazz drummer and rapper to classical bassoon, they are all here. The Between Weathers team will get a unique insight into Shetland’s extraordinary creativity”.

He added: “Between Weathers will be a film rooted in Shetland, its great to see Jim and the team digging below the surface for hidden gems of musical talent and offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of a major feature film”.

Between Weathers Musical Supervisor, Kennedy Aitchison added. “We’re looking for people with exceptional musical talent to join us on this movie adventure.   Jim has told me that he wants to leave no stone unturned in his search for the next big Shetland name.  With the film scheduled to release world-wide in 2012 this could be a fantastic opportunity for someone to put their name and music on the international stage”.

Jim Brown:  “On my trips to the Islands I have been blown away by the musical talent and what I want to do is find the next big star, like Maggie Adamson who has just won the prestigious Glenfiddich Fiddle competition this year.  So if you can sing, play an instrument or feel that you could contribute to the Between Weathers soundtrack in anyway then get in touch with us via the website and we will see you on the 23rd.  If you think you are good enough then go for it, it’s the chance of a lifetime”.
